German Poetry Competition

In July, seven Mullauna students competed at the Regional German Poetry Competition: Thomas, Anneliese, Sebastian, Slava, Abigail, Baran and Kasper. This event was held for the second year in a row here at Mullauna. Other participating schools included Heathmont College, Emmaus College, Vermont Secondary College and Rangeview Primary School. Our students had prepared really well and practiced tirelessly to recite their poem to the best of their ability. Congratulations to Sebastian and Kasper who placed first in Year 7 and 9 respectively and Anneliese who placed third in Year 7.

On Saturday 23rd August Sebastian, Slava and Kasper represented Mullauna at the State German Poetry Competition, which was held at the Austrian Club in Heidelberg. This event involves students studying German from Government, Catholic and Independent schools throughout all of Victoria. Congratulations to Sebastian and Slava who placed first in the state in and Kasper who placed fourth. A fine achievement indeed! A special thank you to Myriam Gad, our language assistant who worked regularly with students in the weeks leading up to this event.

  • Laura Durham, Head of German.
  • Ruby, Liv, Izzy, Ellie, Mia and Erin (Year 9).

Goethe Institut Virtual Reality Incursion

On 17th September students in Years 9, 10 and 11 experienced a virtual reality tour of different parts of Germany.  We got to see a museum, a castle, and wherever we chose to visit in Germany. Students took turns with the headsets and got to look at two attractions of their choice. It was a great eye-opening experience to have with our friends and classmates to see what Germany looks like in a realistic way. It helped expand our knowledge of the country and the amazing places it has to offer. It was a really fun time and a great experience, especially for those going on the German exchange next year.

Danke Goethe Institut.
