Hello Gympie East parents, carers and community,
Thankyou to families for a great term. It has flown by very fast and has been an extremely successful term in many ways. Yesterday at our final Staff Meeting we were engaged in moderating English assessment tasks from across the school. Moderation in a school is the process where teachers work together to review and compare student work to ensure that assessment decisions are consistent, fair, and aligned with agreed standards (such as the Australian Curriculum). It was excellent to read the finished products of our Term 1 units and listen to teachers describing how students are going and be involved in robust discussions using marking guides to establish which grade should be given. I am looking forward more of this in Term 2, as we begin work on Information Reports which have strong links to Science. A Curriculum Snapshot will be emailed out in Week 1 of Term 2 which details exactly which units students will be learning about across all subjects.
This week’s PBL focus was 'Flush, wash, leave'. We have had an increase in students being silly in the toilets and this week we have worked on reiterating the rules for using the toilets appropriately.
P&C AGM
Thankyou to the parents who attended the P&C AGM on Monday 23rd March. Unfortunately, we only had 6 parents in attendance. As a small school, our strength truly lies in the partnerships we build with our families and wider community. The Parents and Citizens Association plays a vital role in shaping the experiences we provide for our students—whether that’s through supporting resources, organising events, or contributing to key school decisions. When more parents attend meetings, we gain a broader range of perspectives, ideas, and voices, which helps ensure we are making decisions that reflect the needs and aspirations of our whole community. Your involvement doesn’t just support the school—it directly impacts your child’s learning environment, sense of belonging, and opportunities. Even a small commitment of time can make a significant difference.
From the Annual General Meeting, congratulations to the Executive who have volunteered their time to helping our school.

Thankyou to Belinda Schulz for continuing to be our Uniform Coordinator, this is an important role to ensure our uniforms are ordered, organised and available for parents to purchase.
Also big thankyou to Amy Polzin for continuing to be our Tuckshop Coordinator. This is a vital role where Amy gives up hours of time each week to ensure our students are fed and happy. If you can volunteer your time on a Wednesday morning, we would really appreciate your support and help!
Have a terrific and restful Easter Break!
