Pathways News

Term One has finished with a flurry of activities in the Pathways space!

Over the last 6 days we have had 140 year 9 students involved in their Morrisby interviews. It was great to see so many parents able to attend with their child to hear the results of their assessment. It is a valuable starting point to generate career conversations, especially as we lead into term 2 with the Geelong Tertiary Futures Program. Permission will go up on XUNO early next term for students to attend the 3 days (4,11 and 18 June) of practical workshops at The Gordon campuses. All costs, including bus travel to and from Oberon to The Gordon is covered by Skilling The Bay.

10 of our year 10 students have been selected to be part of the World of Work Health and Community Services program which is run by the Geelong Regional Local Learning and Employment Network (GRLLEN). These students will have the opportunity to visit hospitals, attend workshops and seminars to learn more about the ever expanding health and community services in our local area.

Early next term, Year 12 students will be attending the VCE and Careers Expo at Melbourne Convention Centre on Thursday 30th April. Representatives from universities, TAFEs, private providers as well as big employers, GAP year opportunities and emergency services will be in attendance. There will be seminars through the day ranging from VCE subjects to ADF presentations. Tickets to the event will be distributed to students after the holidays. Students and staff will be travelling by train from Waurn Ponds to Southern Cross station and walking to the Convention Centre.
