Principal’s Report

What a busy fortnight we have had, with Book Week, Athletics and plenty of other exciting things happening across the school!

As a school, we are incredibly proud of our students and the way they participated in Athletics. While sport can sometimes feel like less of a priority or interest for some students, it was wonderful to see so many of our students getting involved, having a go and, most importantly, displaying our school values of Be Kind, Work Hard and Grow Together.

A special congratulations to Darcey Bradley on receiving an Age Championship and to Tyler Cook on qualifying for the Sandhurst Primary Track and Field Championships in Long Jump. These are fantastic achievements, and we are very proud of both students!

Book Week

Unfortunately, due to attending the VPA Conference, I was unable to be at school for Book Week this year. However, I loved seeing the effort and commitment from our students and families.

I know Book Week is something some families absolutely love, while for others it can feel like just another thing to organise and find. There are, however, many benefits to celebrating Book Week, particularly in encouraging a love of reading, sparking students' imaginations and creating opportunities for children to share their favourite books and characters with each other.

Most importantly, it is clear that Book Week is a highlight for many of our students each year, and it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and creativity.

School Newsletter

Finally, I have been wondering about our newsletter and how effective it is as a way of communicating information to our families.

As you can appreciate, our staff spend a considerable amount of time preparing the newsletter each fortnight. As we continue to look at ways to reduce staff workload while still ensuring families receive the information they need, we are considering moving the newsletter to twice a term, potentially around Week 4 and Week 8.

Before making any changes, I would really value your feedback.

If you read the school newsletter, please text the school mobile on 0494 367 747 with the word “NEWSLETTER”.

This will allow us to get a better understanding of how many families are accessing and reading the newsletter.

I will take this information to School Council on Tuesday night, and we will use your feedback to help us make a decision about how we communicate with families moving forward.
