Crazy Hair Day - 21st November

Gallery Image

We are excited to announce that Friday 21st November will be a Crazy Hair Day at school! This fun-filled event allows students to come to school wearing their most creative and wacky hairstyles or hats. In support of our Year 6 Graduation Program, we kindly ask that students bring a gold coin donation.

All funds raised will go directly towards ensuring a memorable graduation experience for our Year 6 students. We look forward to seeing all the wild and wonderful hair and hats on the day!

New Bike Racks

The school has recently bought more bike racks and revamped the bike storage areas to make it easier to navigate and store more students' bikes. With the warmer days rolling in, it’s the perfect time to pump up those tyres and have the kids pedal their way to school!

Working Bee - Saturday 8th November

Gallery Image

The School Council invites you to the 2025 NLPS Working Bee on Saturday 8th November from 10am–2pm.

Our goal is to make sure the school looks its best ahead of the School Fete on 14th November. It’s a great way to get outdoors, lend a hand, and connect with other families, while helping to keep our school grounds in tip-top shape. Previous Working Bees have made a real impact on our outdoor spaces — benefitting our children, families, and the whole school community.

It’s a family event, and children are welcome to join in — they’ve been a huge help in previous years.

Although we’ll share more details closer to the day, jobs will include:

  • Gardening, pruning, planting, and mulching garden beds
  • General tidying and sweeping outdoor areas and paths
  • Minor maintenance
  • Painting and other small projects to enhance the school

The work is accessible to everyone — whether you’re a weekend gardener, skilled trade, or just keen to pitch in. You don’t need to stay the whole time; even an hour or two of your time makes a real difference.

Whilst it’s not essential, feel free to bring your own tools, including work gloves, power tools, gardening tools, and personal protection – note the school has a range of tools we can use on the day.

How to get involved:

Please register - HEREso we can plan tasks, contact you with further information, and track attendance on the day.

Hope to see you there!

Warm regards,

Ben Houkamau and Dean Marshall

on behalf of the Newport Lakes School Council
