Dear Families,

We are moving fast towards the end of the year and already it is a busy time at school. This week has been a great chance to celebrate all that is special about being a part of St Luke’s community with our Feast Day on Wednesday. May each and every day be blessed for all members of our community.

For families managing illness, or have recently experienced a bereavement with the loss of a loved one, please know you are very much in our thoughts and prayers.

Congratulations also to families who have recently welcomed a new addition to their families with the birth of a child. We wish you every happiness and joy at this special time.

Swimming Program:

Our 2023 Swimming Program is fast approaching. All children will attend swimming lessons at Aquamoves in Shepparton, from Monday 30th October till Friday 3rd November (Week 5). Children will travel by bus to and from Aquamoves. Recess and lunch times will be altered for classes as required.

Students are asked to bring their swimming clothes to school in a separate waterproof swimming bag with a towel and thongs/sandals. Children will change into their swimming gear at school and back into school uniform at Aquamoves. Children will wear thongs/sandals to and from the pool. It is important for all belongings to be clearly named so that we do not have a lot of lost property at the end of the week.

Each class group will be divided into smaller groups of up to ten children and receive instruction from qualified instructors employed by Aquamoves. Children who are unable to swim for medical/other reasons will still travel to the pool during the swimming sessions with their class group. Please contact your child’s teacher to discuss any reason for your child not taking part in this program.

Due to the timetabling of lessons, lunch orders will not be available at school during swimming week. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Parents are welcome to come along and watch lessons taking place. We ask parents not to purchase any food for their child/ren from the canteen.

A permission form has been uploaded on PAM for parents/carers to fill out. Could you please do this at your earliest convenience.

Swimming Week is certainly busy, however it is an important part of our school program, especially as we move into the Summer months when children/families spend a lot of time in and around water.

Book Fair:

What a great success our Bookfair has been this week. It has been wonderful to see the excitement on childrens’ faces when looking at all the displays set up in the library. It has been a great opportunity to choose new books to love and become like treasured fiends. A huge thank you to Mrs Keenan and her team of helpers for all your work in setting up and running the Bookfair before and after school. It certainly couldn’t happen without the passion and support of Mrs Keenan and her team. Our library is always such an engaging and happy place at our school.

Zooper Doopers:

The sale of Zooper Doopers will begin next week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost is 50c each, with a maximum of two per child. We ask children to buy zooper doopers for themselves or brothers/sisters only – not to be purchasing for friends/classmates.

Hats – Term Four:

A reminder that hats need to be worn outside in Term Four. As a part of our SunSmart policy, children are required to wear hats outside during breaks or other activities during the day. Please ensure your child’s hat is clearly named so that if it is misplaced it can be easily returned to it’s owner. Hats also need to be SunSmart and neat – not written on or torn etc. They are an important part of our school uniform. Sunscreen is supplied in all classrooms. If your child wishes to bring their own they are more than welcome to. Thank you for your support with this.
