Easily one of my favourite times of the year at CGSP - Harmony Day!

It was great to participate in our celebrations for Harmony Day, a wonderful occasion that showcased the vibrant diversity within our school community. Every student beaming with pride and excitement to share their cultural backgrounds. I am learning to say hello in many languages and loved testing my skills as everyone came into school.

Our students and staff came together to honour our cultural richness through various activities and events - the lion and dragon dancing was a hit for all. Throughout the day, our students participated enthusiastically in multicultural presentations, sharing their traditions, stories, and delicious foods from around the world. Classrooms were adorned with colourful displays and cultural dress reflecting the heritage and customs of different cultures, fostering a deep sense of appreciation among our students.

A huge thanks to all students, parents, and staff who contributed to making this day a resounding success. Your involvement truly embodies the spirit of Harmony Day and underscores the importance of embracing diversity in our school. Together, we've created - and continue to maintain - a safe and welcoming environment where every voice is valued and celebrated.

Let us continue to nurture these values of respect, inclusivity, and cultural understanding throughout the year. Thank you for making Carlton Gardens Primary a place where diversity thrives!

Holi Festival!

Holi is the Hindu festival of colours, marking the arrival of spring in India and other South Asian countries. It signifies a time of rebirth and rejuvenation, embracing the positive, while letting go of negative energy. This festival is renowned for its exuberant festivities, where people come together to play with colours, sing, dance, and relish traditional delicacies. It is a beautiful celebration that brings people together and symbolises the triumph of good over evil, unity and the value of diversity.

We wish everyone a very happy Holi! Whether it was on the 13th & 14th of March, or at one of the many celebrations across Melbourne - including the upcoming 29th and 30th of March in the City of Melbourne. Melbourne Holi Festival’s main objective is to celebrate unity in diversity and bring our communities together on the occasion of Holi. It’s two days of Culture – Colours – Food – Song and Dance – Live Performances, and much, much more.

Farewell Anna-Maria!

Many of you will know Anna-Maria, who has been the face of our out of hours care program and OSH program leader for a number of years. Anna-Maria, has made the difficult decision to move on from our program. She will be missed by many and we wish her all the very best for the next stage of her career. On the 1st of April the students attending OSH, supported by us, will host a farewell 'Pizza Party' to thank and show our appreciation for all the work Anna-Maria has done for our program. We look forward to seeing you again soon and hearing about your adventures.
