Being Well at Magill

At the end of Term 2, our student leaders participated in the Morialta Partnership Leaders Day held at Vale Park Primary School. This event provided a valuable opportunity for our students to develop communication and social skills by working collaboratively with peers from other schools. Throughout the day, students engaged in conversations with other leaders, allowing them to exchange ideas and gather diverse opinions.
A key focus of the day was analysing the 2025 WEC survey data. Students observed notable differences in responses between male and female cohorts as well as across various year levels.
One highlight was the 'Stranded Island' activity, which challenged each group to cooperate effectively and apply four distinct leadership styles: Delegative (setting roles and expectations), Inspirational (motivating the team), Direct (quick decision-making with a single leader), and Collaborative (working together in partnership).
Overall, the experience helped our leaders build a deeper understanding of the many styles of leadership and the importance of teamwork, preparing them to take confident steps in their future roles. Our student's feedback suggested they really enjoyed spending time in mixed school teams to work on the Island Challenge, as it enabled them to get to know new people. It was a lot of fun.
On a side note: Vale Park’s chicken coop was a big hit!
Have a restful holiday break.
