To Strive, To Seek, To Care with HEART
Dear Families & Friends,
It’s already Week 2 of our final term of 2024. I’ve encouraged students to review goals, reset determination, and improve their effort. In seven weeks, the academic year will all be over – it’s important to maximize the time available and ensure that they complete the year to the best of their ability.
We welcomed back our Round Square International Conference delegates from Columbia last week, Keely Hayward, Elisabeth Holzmann, Luke Willcocks and Sarah Westaway. They were accompanied by our Round Square representative, Alex Pollitt, and our Columbian colleague, Carlos Prieto. There is more information about their trip in the pages following.
At the assembly this week we celebrated Languages Other Than English (LOTE). I’ve seen many different LOTE assemblies over the years and this one was the absolute best representative of the language skills our students have developed. I am very appreciative of our LOTE staff, Yuki Matsueda, Salaam Al Marashli and Chloe Didelot. Special commendation goes to the Year 7 Japanese classes that sung “Let it Go” whose enthusiastic performance was wonderful.
New Family Information Night was well attended last night. It is always great to meet the new students and families and give them some insight into the adventures that await them next year.
Today was the last regular class day for our Year 12s. There is still work to be done with Intensives starting on Monday and the exams begin on Monday 4th November. Please encourage all students to do their best and put in the effort required to fulfill their potential. If you have any concerns about your child or any others, please don’t hesitate to contact our pastoral care team. We are here to support students through these challenges and to ensure they have any required support.
Finally, my heartfelt gratitude to our wonderful teaching staff on World Teacher's Day. I encourage students and parents to send messages of support to our staff on Friday 25 October.
Kind regards,
~Leslie Tilbrook
