 Our Mother’s Day Celebration

The brisk morning air was no match for the wonderful sense of community at our school last Friday as we gathered to celebrate the incredible Mothers, Grandmothers, and Mother figures in our lives. Despite the biting cold, the playground was filled with smiles and laughter as families bundled up to enjoy a special morning together before the start of the school day.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the wonderful women who braved the low temperatures to join us; your presence made the morning a resounding success. We also owe a huge debt of gratitude to the staff and volunteers of the PT &F who worked behind the scenes to ensure the morning ran smoothly. We hope that all the mums in our community felt properly celebrated and enjoyed a very happy Mother’s Day.

Year 2

It’s been an action-packed start to Term 2 in Year 2 as we dive deep into our learning! As part of our History unit, we have been looking for evidence of the past in the present and last week we enjoyed a fantastic excursion to Calala Cottage. Our students loved exploring local historic artefacts and hearing stories from the knowledgeable volunteers who brought the past to life.

It was also a joy to welcome our Mums and special people into the school to celebrate Mother’s Day; thank you to everyone who joined us for such a lovely morning last Friday.

Back in the classroom, we’ve been busy exploring the natural world by constructing our own rain gauges and we were lucky enough to catch a brief shower to test them out! Meanwhile, in English, we have been captivated by the antics in George’s Marvellous Medicine. Inspired by the story, we are currently mastering the art of the "Sizzling Start" to ensure our own imaginative writing hooks the reader right from the very first sentence. We have also made rain gauges to measure how much rain we have had lately. Hopefully we get some more rain in coming days so we can use them some more!
