School Sport Victoria Swimming Finals

On Thursday 23 April, 7 Eltham High School students represented the school with pride at the School Sport Victoria Swimming Finals, delivering a series of outstanding performances across both individual events and relays.

It was a fantastic showing from all swimmers, with strong efforts in the pool reflecting the hard work and commitment put in throughout the season. The team competed with determination and supported one another across the day, contributing to a positive and competitive team environment.

Leading the way were Sam Hartley (Year 11 – Everard) and Ben Van Dijk (Year 10 – Skipper), who both enjoyed exceptional meets. Sam claimed an individual gold and silver medal, while also contributing to a bronze medal performance in the medley relay. Ben matched this success with an individual gold and bronze of his own, alongside a bronze in the medley relay, highlighting the strength and consistency of both swimmers at a high level.

Luca Miraglia (Year 12 – Skipper) also delivered an impressive performance, securing an individual gold medal and further adding to the team’s success.

The relay teams were another highlight of the competition, showcasing strong teamwork and depth across the squad. The 17–20 boys' medley relay team (Sam Hartley, Ben Van Dijk, Archie Bonga (Year 11 Skipper) and Evan Hayes (Year 12 Toner) ) swam brilliantly to finish 3rd, earning a well-deserved podium place. 

Meanwhile, the 17 boys' 4 x 50m freestyle relay team (Sam Hartley, Ben Van Dijk, Zac Cochrane (Year 11 Toner) and Harry Taggert (Year 11 Everard) produced a competitive performance to finish 4th, narrowly missing out on a medal.

Overall, it was an excellent day for the school, with students demonstrating both individual excellence and teamwork at a high level.
