Urban Surf
Last week Year 8 students went on an excursion to the fantastic facilities at Urban Surf, a surf wave pool in Tullamarine.
We got off the bus and were greeted by the friendly staff who helped students select and get into their wetsuits. All our students were super keen and focused during the training. A special mention to instructor Anthony, who went above and beyond to assist students and make them feel confident and comfortable.
Students were divided into two groups and alternated between surfing and surf rescue training, including CPR. Students caught waves and coasted into shore. Many of the students were able to stand on their boards, some for the first time! We had a short break to eat lunch and enjoy the great weather before continuing in the afternoon. Students made their way back on the bus at the end of the day tired, but happy.
Of the day, student Aydin Kelly said:
"I liked the surfing and I stood up twice on the board.
The instructors were good. It was fun."
Another student, Nyssa Mika said:
"The instructors were really nice and helped us confident in the water,
and helped me stand up. I felt pretty proud and want to go there again."
