Japanese Day Dress-Up Celebration

A big thank you to all parents and guardians for your ongoing support of our Japanese program. Your encouragement and involvement help make language learning engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable for our students.

We are excited to announce that Japanese Day will be held on Thursday 29 October (Term 4). Students will participate in a range of fun Japanese-themed activities throughout the day, including a special performance from an in-school visiting presenter.

To help celebrate the day, students are invited to come dressed in a Japanese-themed costume or outfit. There is no need to purchase anything special. Creative homemade costumes are warmly encouraged, and even a simple red and white T-shirt outfit inspired by the Japanese flag is perfectly fine!

Some costume ideas include:

• Japanese colours and symbols: red and white, Japanese flag themes
• Food: sushi, ramen, onigiri, bento, wasabi
• Popular characters: Super Mario, Pokémon, Hello Kitty, Sonic
• Transport: Japanese cars, Shinkansen (bullet train)
• Cultural icons: ninja, samurai, Kimono, Yukata (summer cotton kimono), Tokyo Tower, cherry blossoms, lanterns, beckoning cat (maneki-neko), Mt Fuji
• Sports and martial arts: karate, judo, jujutsu, sumo, kendo

• Technology: Nintendo, Sony, Robots

   

Students may also wish to use the upcoming school holiday period to create a simple costume or craft item related to Japan. We welcome fun and creative ideas!

Please note: For safety reasons, chopsticks should not be worn as hair accessories or in hairstyles.
