Student Activities

VCE VM - Literacy for Advocacy
As part of the VCE Vocational Major (VM) Literacy program, Year 12 students are exploring Literacy for Advocacy, developing their skills in using language and communication to raise awareness and advocate for issues they are passionate about.
Students were challenged to select an issue that mattered to them and create two different text forms to communicate their message to a target audience.
Imogen Norman chose poetry to explore the advocacy statement “Female safety is a male problem.” Through her poem, Imogen used creative writing to communicate her perspective and encourage readers to reflect on the shared responsibility of creating safer communities.
Asher Higgins chose potholes as his advocacy issue, creating both a poster and an Instagram post to raise awareness of the issue and advocate for safer, better-maintained roads in the community.
CCS Vicspell Success!

At the State Final, Trent achieved an outstanding second place in the Year 7 competition, while Edward placed third in the Year 8 competition.
Both students received prizes including trophies, dictionaries and Oxford University gift vouchers. A huge congratulations to Trent and Edward on this fantastic achievement!
VET Cookery Family Dinner Night
Our VET Cookery students recently welcomed their families and teachers into the Marian Kitchen for a special Family Dinner Night.
From BBQ pulled pork sliders and duck bao buns to sushi rolls, salt & pepper squid, charcuterie boards and an array of sweet treats, our students prepared an incredible spread for their guests.
It was fantastic to see our students showcase their culinary skills, creativity and teamwork while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a real hospitality setting.
A huge congratulations to our VET Cookery students on a fantastic evening, and thank you to our families and staff for coming along to support them!
The Marian Kitchen is already proving to be an incredible space for authentic, hands-on learning experiences.
CCS Production - High School Musical
The Wedge was buzzing on 9 and 10 September as our students took to the stage for a spectacular production of High School Musical!
Celebrating 20 years of the iconic Disney film, our talented cast brought energy, nostalgia and plenty of talent to the stage, captivating audiences from the very first cue.
A special congratulations to our lead performers Amelia Jinesh (Year 8) as Gabriella Montez and Lachlan Marsh (Year 11) as Troy Bolton. Their impressive vocals, stage presence and chemistry brought the much-loved characters to life.
Our dynamic duo of Frances Dwyer (Year 12) as Sharpay Evans and Lachlan Powney (Year 12) as Ryan Evans also had audiences entertained with their standout performance of Bop to the Top!
We would also like to acknowledge our graduating Year 12 students Lachlan Powney, Frances Dwyer, Willow Goode, Kadesha Smith and Ethan Monck, who showed incredible leadership, dedication and enthusiasm throughout the production.
A huge congratulations to all of our cast and crew for their hard work, commitment and talent, and to Ms Milan Salvatore, Ms Sophie Garner and Mr Tom Cousin for their direction and support.

VET Cookery - Real-World Hospitality Experience
Last Thursday, 10 September, our CCS VET Cookery students headed to Cobb & Co for a valuable real-world hospitality experience, serving dessert to more than 180 guests at the Sale Floral Art Group luncheon.
The experience provided students with the opportunity to put their hospitality skills into practice while serving and engaging with members of our local community.
We were delighted to receive some wonderful feedback from Sale Floral Art Group President, Debbie Krusic:
"I just wanted to say a big thank you from the Sale Floral Art Group for organising the serving of dessert at our luncheon. We had so many comments from ladies saying how professional the service was. A lot also commented how nice it was to see the school uniforms. Thank you again, appreciate your help."
A wonderful opportunity for our students to gain hands-on experience and represent Catholic College Sale in the wider community.
VCE VM Students Give Back Through Community Projects
VCE VM students have once again been putting their practical skills into action through a range of community-focused projects and activities.
Wellington Shire Planting Day
Our VCE VM students recently joined Wellington Shire for another Planting Day, contributing to an ongoing project to develop and improve the Flooding Creek area.
The day provided students with a valuable opportunity to work alongside members of the local community while developing practical skills and contributing to the local environment. Their enthusiasm and willingness to get involved made the day a great success.
Tom Woods Takes His Umpiring to the Next Level
Year 12 VCE VM student Tom Woods has taken his passion for umpiring to new heights this year.
As part of his Personal Development Skills (PDS) studies, Tom began volunteering to umpire school matches. His commitment quickly grew, leading him to join the Sale Umpires Association (SUA), where he has been training regularly throughout the season.
Tom's hard work was recognised when he was selected to umpire one of the NGFNL Grand Finals last Saturday — an outstanding achievement for a young umpire.
Tom was also presented with the Junior Commitment Award at the SUA Presentation Night, recognising his dedication and commitment to umpiring throughout the year.
Congratulations, Tom, on these fantastic achievements!
Supporting Junior Athletics
Our VCE VM students have once again been lending a helping hand at the local District Sports Carnivals.
Their assistance is greatly appreciated by the participating primary schools, with students taking on a range of roles throughout the carnivals and helping ensure the events run smoothly.
Most importantly, our students have done a wonderful job encouraging the younger competitors, cheering them on and helping them do their best. Their positive attitude and willingness to support younger students is a fantastic example of community engagement in action.
Legacy Pottery Project
Our Year 12 VCE VM students are putting the finishing touches on their final community project for 2026 — a collaborative pottery project.
Working together, students have been preparing their individual pieces and getting them ready for the kiln. The project has provided students with an opportunity to collaborate, develop practical skills and create something meaningful as part of their final VCE VM community project.
We look forward to seeing the finished pieces once they have been fired!
Year 7 Humanities – Exploring Ancient Australia
Students from 7B, 7C, 7D and 7F recently stepped beyond the classroom to become archaeologists for the day through the National Trust’s Deep Time: Time Detectives incursion.
The interactive experience introduced students to Ancient Australia, archaeology and stratigraphy. Students explored artefacts, examined layers of the earth and investigated how physical evidence can help us understand how people lived in the past.
The incursion also provided an important opportunity to explore First Nations perspectives and Indigenous connections to Country, culture and place, helping students appreciate Australia’s rich history stretching back tens of thousands of years.
The experience complemented our Year 7 Humanities learning beautifully, giving students a hands-on opportunity to think like archaeologists and investigate Australia’s deep past.
A big thank you to the National Trust educators for an engaging and informative experience!
Students in 7E, 7F and 7G can look forward to taking part in Term 4.
