Create Belonging

I would like to take the opportunity to recognise and celebrate our incredible Learning Inclusion Team, including our Student Support Officers and the invaluable contribution they make to our school community.

Their patience, kindness, dedication, and unwavering support of our students and teachers are valued. The encouragement, guidance, and care they provide each day make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many. Their work ensures every student feels supported and can access the learning that takes place in the classrooms.

In following the document In the Footsteps of Marcellin Champagnat,

“We motivate children and young people to strive for continuous improvement. We communicate our belief in their potential for growth, highlighting the joy of learning and achievement. We create learning environments where each student can flourish, succeed and feel safe and supported.”

We are very lucky at Catholic College Sale that we have such wonderful staff who live this document daily.

Strive for Excellence

We are now well underway in our planning for 2027. After working with our timetabling consultants, the 2027 timetable has been created, and I am pleased to announce that students will have access to a broad and diverse range of subjects. This timetable, built upon student choice, reflects our commitment to providing rich and varied learning opportunities. In 2027, we are excited to be introducing new subject offerings to the curriculum, including French in VCE, Sociology, a student-selected science program in Year 10 and an increase in English lessons in Years 7 and 8.

As the academic year progresses, our VCE students are approaching the conclusion of their Unit 4 studies, with exam preparation now well underway. I strongly encourage all students to take full advantage of the revision lectures available and to actively engage in the practice exam period scheduled for the second week of the holidays. Thorough revision and seeking feedback from teachers is the key to achieving success in the upcoming examinations.

I also remind students that the Ratisbonne Centre remains open for extended supervised study, with access available until 6:00 pm from Monday to Thursday. This valuable resource provides an excellent environment for focused and productive study.

As we move into Term 4, please ensure students have all the necessary equipment and resources needed for their learning. When students come to class ready to learn, they are more engaged and able to make the most of each lesson. Thank you for supporting your child in being prepared and organised for a successful term ahead.

As reports become available on PAM today, we encourage families to sit down with their child to review their progress, acknowledge their successes, and set goals for the remainder of the year.

Share Success

We are incredibly proud of the success of this year's school production, High School Musical. The outstanding performances showcased the fantastic talents, commitment, and creativity of our students, both on stage and behind the scenes. The production was very well received, with audiences providing positive feedback and praising the high standard of the performances. A special thank you must also go to the staff whose dedication, time, and support made this event possible. Their commitment ensured a memorable experience for our students and wider school community.

Our VCE VM students have also continued to make a positive impact beyond the school gates through their strong community engagement initiatives. By supporting local primary schools with their sports days and participating in projects such as tree planting, students are building valuable connections within our community while developing leadership and teamwork skills. These experiences not only benefit our local schools and environment but also demonstrate the positive contribution our students make as active and responsible members of our school and wider community.

From CCS to Clinical Myotherapy, discover the journey of CCS alumnus and local myotherapist, Kris Armistead.

From his favourite memories at CCS to the pathway that led him to his career, read his full alumni profile and find out where his journey has taken him. Read his profile below.

What have you been up to since graduating from CCS?

I graduated from CCS in 2006 and initially enrolled in biomedical science as a stepping stone towards chiropractic studies. Realising after 18 months that it wasn't the right path for me, I took a gap period to travel to Canada for six months, where I worked at a restaurant on Whistler Mountain and spent my free time snowboarding.

Upon returning home, I underwent a shoulder reconstruction due to football and snowboarding injuries. Working closely with a myotherapist during my rehabilitation inspired me to pursue Clinical Myotherapy.

I completed a four-year Bachelor's degree in 2013 and have been practising locally in private practice ever since. After spending my first 10 years working out of a chiropractic clinic, I transitioned to a multidisciplinary clinic as a subcontractor, where I have been for the past two and a half years.

On a personal note, I married a fellow CCS graduate. We have been together for 17 years and have three children (ages 8, 5 and 3).

What do you enjoy most about what you’re doing now?

Helping patients recover from injuries and improving their overall quality of life is the most rewarding aspect of my work.

I treat a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions, including headaches, shoulder issues, chronic back pain, elbow and wrist conditions, osteoarthritic discomfort, and knee injuries. I employ modalities such as dry needling, cupping, myofascial release, exercise prescription, and deep tissue manipulation to help alleviate pain and discomfort. When a patient reports a successful reduction in discomfort, it is an incredibly rewarding feeling.

Additionally, being self-employed provides the flexibility needed to manage my children's school pickups and sporting commitments, which I love.

What are some of your favourite memories from your time at CCS?

I have many wonderful memories from my years at CCS, including the Tassie camp in Year 10, my Year 12 retreat, school bus trips, dressing up for school sports and oral presentations, and various sporting opportunities with the Marist cricket and footy carnivals.

One of my absolute favourite memories is the Marist Cricket trip to Lismore, where we won the carnival trophy in 2005.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Always strive to do better, but try not to be overly critical of yourself regarding your final academic results. There are many different pathways to achieve your goals, and your final score does not define your future options.

Is there a message you’d like to share with our current students?

Things will not always go precisely as planned, so focus on pursuing what you genuinely enjoy.

I love what I do, but when I was in Year 12, I didn't even know myotherapy existed. Don't get hung up on what you think you have to do immediately after school. Just ensure that whatever path you choose, you enjoy it—because when you love what you do, it rarely feels like work.
