Cross Country Carnival – Parent Information
Date: Monday 9 March 2026
Location: Primula Oval
Grades: Years 2–6
We are looking forward to a wonderful day of participation, perseverance and school spirit at our annual Cross Country Carnival!
What Students Need to Wear
- Full Sports Uniform
- School hat (must be worn at all times except while racing)
What to Bring
- Water bottle (clearly labelled)
- Recess and lunch
- Sunscreen (applied before leaving home and packed in bags)
Hydration is extremely important. Please ensure your child brings plenty of water.
Race Distances
- 12 & 11 years (Boys & Girls): 3km (3 laps)
- 10 years (Boys & Girls): 2km (2 laps)
- 8/9 years (Boys & Girls): 2km (2 laps)
Students must run the entire race (not walk) to be eligible for selection in the next level of competition.
Representative Team Selection
The carnival allows us to select the top six boys and girls from each age group (8–12 years) to represent the school at the Cluster Championships.
Please note:
- The 8/9 years age group is combined, with only six competitors per gender qualifying overall.
- Official results will be confirmed after the carnival.
Ribbons and place getters will be announced at a later whole-school assembly.
Schedule for the Day
(Times are approximate and may change slightly on the day.)
8:30am – Roll call at school (Years 2–6)
8:45am – Years 5–6 walk to the oval (take recess with them)
9:00am – Senior students walk the course
9:15am – 12 Years Girls
9:30am – 12 Years Boys
9:45am – Years 2–4 depart school (eating recess at school before walking to the park. Please send morning tea food to school - No Recess tuckshop for Year 2 - Year 6, they can order lunch from the tuckshop)
9:45am – 11 Years Girls
10:00am – 11 Years Boys
10:30am – Years 2–4 walk the course
10:45am – 10 Years Girls
11:00am – 10 Years Boys
11:15am – 8/9 Years Girls
11:30am – 8/9 Years Boys
Classes will return to school once all students in their grade have completed their races.
Year 2 to Year 6 to eat lunch on their return to school (including lunch orders)
Important Medical Information
If your child requires medication (e.g. asthma puffer), they must carry it with them on the day. Staff will also bring school-held medication and first aid kits.
Parent Helpers
We warmly welcome parent helpers to assist with:
- Course checkpoints
- Lap marking
- General supervision
If you are available to help, please ensure you check in with Mrs Gibbs upon arrival.
