Dear parents and carers,

It’s certainly  been an exciting and busy few weeks at school and the next few weeks show no signs of slowing down!

Trivia Night 

A massive thank you to everyone who made our annual Trivia Night such a fantastic success last week! First and foremost, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our absolutely amazing trivia host and CHPS parent, Suzannah Bradmore. We also want to say a huge thank you to the wonderful parents who generously donated items for our school auction. This event could not have happened without the incredible support of Megan Brock, Toby Stephens, Cindy-Lee Davies, Eleanor Curran + Michael Kee, Amy Fung + Jonathan Teoh, Lucy Feagins, Georgia Spokes, Elly Steinlauf, Anthony Lehmann and Sarah +  Nick Wells.  Thank you to our MC, Alicia Loxley - the auction was once again a huge success.  Your generosity makes a world of difference to our school community!

Grade 6 in Canberra

Grade 6 headed off to Canberra for a week on Monday. After a full day of bus travel the students spent the following day, learning about all things voting, a highlight was their participation in a role play of the preferential voting system and participating in a House of Representatives election scenario. The Embassy driving experience allowed the students to see the diplomatic missions and embassies from all around the world. Most marvelling at the scale of the American embassy and reflecting on how the residences reflect the style or architecture of the country they represent. Next stops include… the Australian Institute of Sport, Royal Australian Mint and Australian War Memorial.

Parent Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey and is seeking your feedback. The survey helps us understand families' perceptions of the school's climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs across the school. The Department will use the results from the survey for research purposes and to improve outcomes for students.

Details are available in the Compass news feed. A reminder that the closing date for the survey is Friday 18th September. We hope that you can take the time to participate so that we can gain an understanding of our community’s views and help us shape decisions for the future.

Wear it Purple Day

The annual Wear it Purple Day was on Friday 28 August 2026. The day aimed to foster safe and inclusive environments for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex, queer, questioning and asexual (LGBTIQA+) young people.  It was also a chance for our school community to acknowledge and celebrate LGBTIQA+ diversity and inclusion. The year’s theme was ‘Colours of courage’. It acknowledged that: ‘Courage is not just expressed in big moments, but in everyday choices to live proudly and invite others into understanding, acceptance and celebration’.

Hats are Back!

With the commencement of spring, students are required to wear appropriate sun-protection hats during all outdoor activities. In accordance with the CHPS SunSmart Policy, this requirement will be enforced starting Monday 31 August.

Parents and carers are requested to:

1. Provide either a broad-brim or legionnaire style hat.
2. Clearly label the hat with the student's full name.
3. Ensure the hat is brought to school daily.

A big thank you to all the students who remembered to wear their hats since the beginning of spring! It’s great to see everyone being sun smart and taking care of themselves while out in the yard and during sporting events.

We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a sun-safe environment for our students.

Industrial Action Update: Normal School Operations Resume

A majority of Australian Education Union (AEU) members have voted to accept the Government’s latest enterprise agreement offer. Consequently, all industrial action has ceased, and our school will continue to operate as normal. On behalf of the entire staff at CHPS, we sincerely thank you for your patience, support, and understanding throughout this period.

End of Term

The last day of term is Friday, 18th September. We will break for the September holidays at 2:30pm.
