Yard Duty and Supervision
Could all parents please make themselves familiar with our yard duty and supervision policy which is available on Compass. It clearly sets out the times that playground spaces are supervised before and after school and the expectation that children must be supervised or in the care of their parents or our Out Of School Hours provider Team Kids outside of these times.
Attendance
It is pleasing to see that out average school attendance across the whole school is sitting at 92%. The aim in an ideal world for every child is 95%. We continue to encourage families to take holidays during designated school holiday periods where possible and when children are well enough to attend school they should be at school. If your child is struggling with attendance for any reason please feel free to reach out so that appropriate supports can be put in place.
Peaceful Kids Term 3
This term we have started two Peaceful Kids groups in Year 1 and 2 up in our Wellbeing Hub. So far we have been working on building our emotional literacy by naming a range of feelings and describing how our bodies feel in those moments and we have planted beans as a metaphor for how important it is to nourish our minds and bodies by providing them with adequate food, water, exercise, sleep and mindfulness.
Child Safety at Kingswood Primary School
Just a reminder that all of our policies related to Child Safety are available on our school website. We regularly review and update these policies with our student learning and wellbeing subcommittee of school council and where appropriate we engage with student leaders and student focus groups to ensure that student voice is evident in our policies.
Student Support Group Meetings Term 3
Student Support Group meetings are held at Kingswood for all students who receive individualised Disability Inclusion funding or are in the process of applying for funding, for any students in Out Of Home Care or those who are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. Katrina Sargent, the team leader of our inclusion team will once again be running these meetings over the next two weeks either face to face or via WebEx on request. This is a great opportunity to check in on student progress against their learning and social/ emotional goals.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on school students with disabilities (NCCD)
This is an annual collection of information about Australian school students with disability. The NCCD allows school and governments to better understand the needs of students with disabilities, the level of adjustments that are being provided to allow students to access education on an equitable basis as their peers and how they can best be supported at school. This process has been coordinated by Richelle Fraser our Disability and Inclusion Leading Teacher in consultation with our teachers and only provides de-identified data about their year of schooling, the category of the disability and the level of adjustment provided.
