We welcome Abbey to our Wellbeing Team

Hi everyone! I’m Abbey, and I joined the school in Term 3 as the Mental Health Practitioner.

I’m a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with experience in inpatient mental health, crisis intervention and community mental health, as well as general nursing in emergency and medical/surgical wards.

I’m friendly and approachable, and you don’t need to be having a crisis to come and have a chat! My role here is to support students with their mental health and wellbeing, whether something big or small is going on. 💛

Outside of school, I love keeping active — you’ll usually find me playing netball, at the gym, out walking, horse riding or on a dirt bike! 🏍️

🧠 Abbey’s Mental Health Hot Tips

💃 Dance it out – Put on your favourite song and move your body. Sometimes a good song is the best reset!

🌿 Regulate & reset – Try slow breathing, stretching, a walk outside or splashing some cool water on your face when you're feeling overwhelmed.

🧴 Make time for self-care – Do something that fills your cup, whether that's seeing friends, getting outside, having a shower, listening to music or simply having some downtime.

📵 Give your brain a break – Step away from your phone and social media every now and then.

💬Talk it out – Don't wait until things feel really hard. Reach out to someone you trust or come and have a chat with the wellbeing team.

Remember: looking after your mental health can start with one small thing. 🌻
