Dear Students, Parents and Carers,
As we reach the halfway point of the term, it is important to pause and reflect on all that our students have achieved and the progress they have made so far. Our school community continues to be busy with learning, opportunities and activities both inside and outside the classroom.
The next five weeks are an important period for our Year 12 students as they complete their final SACs and approach the exam period which commences in October. This is a time when consistent effort, organisation and a positive study routine can make a significant difference. We encourage all students to prioritise regular home study and revision, make the most of their study sessions onsite, and seek additional support from their classroom teachers whenever it is needed. We also recognise that, as the end of secondary school approaches, students may experience a range of emotions, including stress about the exams and uncertainty about what comes next. These feelings are understandable and our dedicated Senior School and Wellbeing Teams are available to support students to finish their schooling with confidence. Please reach out to Amy Wilson (Senior School Education Leader) or Laura Caruana (Year Level Co-ordinator) if needed.
Our Year 10 students have had an incredible week skiing and snowboarding at Mount Buller. The camp has provided students with a wonderful opportunity to experience some adventure, challenge themselves, develop greater independence, and form stronger connections with their peers. Beyond learning new skills on the slopes, students have also gained valuable lessons in perseverance, resilience and stepping outside their comfort zones. We are incredibly proud of the way our students have embraced the experience and supported one another throughout the week and extend our thanks to Mr. Nicholson, Mr. Vallance, Mrs. Nunn and Mrs. Marr for their support in attending the camp.
We are looking forward to our College Athletics Day on Monday, 17th August. It promises to be a fantastic day filled with house and school spirit. All students are encouraged to get involved, support their House and proudly wear their House colours throughout the day. Whether competing on the track, in field events or cheering on your team, every student has an important role to play in making the carnival a memorable one. Students will be bused to and from the Aerodrome Ovals and will be dismissed from school at the usual time of 3.10pm. If parents/carers are yet to provide consent for this event, can you please log into Compass before Sunday evening. Thank you to Mr. Thomas for his enthusiasm in co-ordinating this event.
Next week we are celebrating Science Week. With a range of fun and engaging activities planned for students during lunchtimes, students will have the opportunity to get involved in hands-on activities, explore scientific ideas and enjoy some science-themed fun. We look forward to sharing some photos and stories in our next newsletter.
Looking ahead, Parent Teacher Interviews will take place on Tuesday, 8th September. Further information will be provided to families within the next fortnight, but please be aware this is an adjusted school day and students in Year 7 – 11 will not be required onsite. Please note, Year 12 classes will still run on this day to limit interruptions in the lead up to exams. All parents and carers are encouraged to schedule interviews. These conversations with your child’s teacher provide a valuable opportunity to celebrate your child’s successes, recognise their progress and work in partnership with their teachers to identify areas for continued growth and set meaningful goals for improvement.
There is certainly plenty to look forward to in the weeks ahead, with many exciting opportunities for our students to learn, connect and celebrate together. With Book Week, The Beat Performance, Interschool Basketball, the Reddy Fete and our Staff versus Student AFL match all on the horizon, there will be plenty of opportunities for students to get involved and enjoy the many experiences on offer at Reddy.
