Principal's Message
Good afternoon all,
It has been another busy and positive few weeks at Sacred Heart, with a strong focus on student wellbeing, community connection and preparation for the exciting events ahead.
Shortly, parents and families will receive a letter inviting you to participate in the ORIMA survey. This survey provides valuable feedback about how we can continue to strengthen our engagement with parents, families and students.
Students from Year 3 – Year 6 will also participate in a student survey, and our staff will complete a survey as well. The information gathered through this process is an important part of our school’s continuous improvement. Your feedback helps us to celebrate what we are doing well and identify areas where we can continue to grow.
I encourage all families to take the opportunity to participate when the survey invitation is received.
At the end of this week, we will farewell Zoe Findlay, who has been a valued Learning Support Officer at Sacred Heart for the past three years. Zoe has provided wonderful support to many of our students, particularly in the junior area of the school.
Zoe will be greatly missed by our students and staff. She is moving into the area of disability case management, a field she is passionate about, and we wish her every success in this next chapter. We thank Zoe for her commitment, care and contribution to our school community.
Book Week celebrations are almost here! Our Book Week Dress-Up Day and Parade will take place on Wednesday 26 August. Students are invited to come dressed as a favourite book character, with the parade taking place in the quadrangle after roll at approximately 9.00am. Parents and families are warmly invited to attend and share in this wonderful celebration of reading and literature.
We look forward to welcoming our Dads and special guests to our Father’s Day Breakfast on Friday 4 September. The breakfast will be held in the quadrangle from 7.30am–8.45am, followed by our Athletics Carnival. We hope many of our families will be able to join us for what promises to be a very special morning.
We are excited to announce that our Breakfast Club will commence in September. Breakfast Club will operate on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8.30am in the Mercy Centre, commencing Wednesday 9 September.
This will provide students with an opportunity to enjoy breakfast together and begin their school day in a welcoming and positive environment.
We are also seeking further volunteers to assist with Breakfast Club. If you would be interested in volunteering, please email me at cgoode@shtatura.catholic.edu.au.
Over the coming weeks, our school website will receive a facelift! The new website is planned for launch in October and will include a more modern design and a range of more accessible and useful features for our families. We look forward to sharing the new website with you later in the year.
Our next Advisory Council meeting will be held in Week 9, Wednesday 9 September.
Members of our Advisory Council will have the opportunity to provide advice to school leadership as we consider strategic planning for Sacred Heart and for schools across Catholic Education Sandhurst. The input and perspective of our Advisory Council members is an important part of our ongoing planning and improvement.
This week we are participating in Bullying No Way Week, with a strong focus on reminding our students that every person has a role to play in creating a school where bullying is not accepted.
Each day, students are engaging in learning and discussions around these themes:
Small Acts Matter – Words and Actions, Kindness Creates Impact – Even the Tiny Moments, You Have the Power to Make Things Better, Pause Before You Speak, Text or Communicate Online, Together, Our Small Actions Create Big Change.
Our raffle tickets this week will be awarded to students who demonstrate a genuine commitment to these themes through their words and actions.
These messages are particularly important at Sacred Heart because kindness and compassion are at the heart of our Mercy values and the teachings of our Mercy founder, Catherine McAuley.

What a wonderful reminder that our everyday words and actions can make a significant difference to the people around us. As a school community, let us continue to model and encourage kindness, compassion, inclusion and respect in everything we do.
