Sustainability

Sustainability at OGPS – Term 4
Welcome to another exciting term of sustainability at Ocean Grove Primary School! There are lots of opportunities for our students, staff and families to make a positive difference to our school and local environment.
Nude Food and Active Wednesday
A reminder that Nude Food Tuesday continues this term. We encourage families to pack lunches and snacks with as little packaging as possible. Choosing reusable containers and avoiding single-use wrappers helps us reduce waste and keep our school grounds clean. Active Wednesday
Active Wednesday is back! Each Wednesday, we encourage students and families to choose an active way to travel to school where possible — walk, ride, scoot or park a little further away and walk the rest of the way.
Community Compost
We are also continuing to promote our community composting at OGPS. Composting helps us reduce the amount of food waste going into landfill and turns food scraps into something useful for our gardens. Families are welcome to drop off their home compost at the school garden.
Australian Bird Count – Week 3
In Week 3, our classes will be participating in the Australian Bird Count. Students will spend time observing and counting the birds they see around our school grounds.
Families can get involved too! Simply download the Australian Bird Count app and spend around 20 minutes counting birds in your local area. It is a wonderful opportunity to get outside, slow down and learn more about the amazing birds that live around us.
