StreetSmarts AFL Queensland Schools Cup
Congratulations to our Senior Girls AFL team, who proudly represented the College at the StreetSmarts AFL Queensland Schools Cup on Tuesday. The team displayed great determination throughout the day, gaining valuable experience and further developing their skills.
A sincere thank you to Mr Podolczak for his leadership and guidance, and to Mrs Garner, who kindly stepped in at the last minute to assist.
This event marks the conclusion of our AFL Gala Days for 2026, with four teams competing across Semester 1. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr Podolczak for his coaching expertise and the significant time he has dedicated to preparing all of our teams. We also acknowledge the staff who supported and assisted at the carnivals, and commend our AFL students for representing our College with enthusiasm and determination.
We look forward to continuing to build on these skills and opportunities in 2027.
Senior Schools Cup Volleyball
The Boys Senior Schools Cup Volleyball Competition will be held at Smithfield State High School on Tuesday 23 June.
Mr Hanlon will be running trials for all boys interested in playing on Tuesday, 9 June, during Second Break. Please speak with Mr Hanlon if you have any questions.

Athletics Carnival - Monday, 22 June 2026
During Junior and Senior Sport and Enrichment this week, students have been nominating for events at the Interhouse Athletics Carnival. Year 7 students will be given the opportunity to nominate during their sports classes next week.
If students were absent this week, including those participating in our CISSA teams, please visit the Sports Office and see Mrs Draheim to nominate for events.
Cairns Running Festival 2026 - Teams Leaderboard
St Mary's is once again participating in the Cairns Running Festival on Sunday, 12 July. Students, staff and community members of all running abilities are invited to join our College Team and celebrate active living and community spirit as we walk, jog and run along our beautiful Cairns Esplanade.
Off the back of winning the largest participating school in 2025, we are hoping to show up in even bigger and better numbers this year and paint the town maroon and green! St Mary's is currently sitting in the number one position on the Team Registrations Leaderboard!
