School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

Learning Walks - Active Supervision
As part of our ongoing School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) work, the BP Team are conducting a series of learning walks across classrooms with a focus on active supervision and effective classroom transitions. These learning walks are an important part of our continuous improvement approach, allowing us to monitor the consistency and strength of teacher practice, celebrate effective strategies already in place, and identify areas where further refinement or support may be beneficial.
During the learning walks, staff are observing a range of active supervision strategies aligned with DET and SWPBS practices, including teachers actively moving around the classroom, scanning and monitoring student engagement, using proximity to support positive behaviour, delivering specific positive feedback, pre-correcting expectations, and implementing clear and consistent transition routines. Strong transition practices help students move smoothly between activities, maximise learning time and maintain calm and orderly learning environments.
These practices are being embedded across our school and reflect the high standard of teaching and learning support provided in our classrooms each day. We are proud of the consistent and proactive work staff undertake to ensure all students feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
