Exciting news from the SKiPPS orchestra

We want to send out a quick reminder that we have been awarded a generous grant from South Melbourne Community Chest for the 2026 school year. This funding will allow us to support a number of students by covering participation fees, ensuring that more children have access to music.
No child should miss out on the opportunity to experience the many benefits of music due to financial constraints. Music education has been shown to support children's cognitive development, enhance memory and concentration and contribute positively to academic performance. Beyond this, it builds confidence, creativity and a sense of belonging, especially within the SKIPPS Orchestra, which is a truly special group.
We are also incredibly lucky to have Michael Roper. A former SKIPPS teacher, Michael brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our community. His ability to connect with students and inspire them musically creates an environment where they can thrive and grow.
If financial concerns have ever been a barrier to your child's participation, we encourage you to come along Wednesdays at 8am and be part of the orchestra. We are committed to making this program accessible and inclusive for all.
