Upcoming Industrial Action – Advance Notice
Following the full-day staff strike at the end of Term 1, the Australian Education Union has advised that its campaign of industrial action will continue this term.
This action is being taken by our teachers and Education Support staff as part of a broader effort to secure fair wages, improved working conditions, and fair funding for government schools across Victoria.
The action that will have the greatest impact on families is an upcoming half-day stop work scheduled for Thursday 21st May. We are providing this information as early as possible to support families in making arrangements.
At this stage, AEU members are expected to stop work from the start of the school day until 12:30pm. Based on the level of participation in last term’s action, we anticipate that almost all of our staff will be involved in this action. As a result, it is likely that we will be unable to run normal classes until the afternoon.
Further details will be shared as they become available. We understand that this may create challenges for families and appreciate your support and understanding as our staff advocate for the conditions and funding needed to best support our students.
Sick Bay - donations of clothes required
Throughout the week, some children may require a change of clothes after slipping over into wet grass, spilling drinks, etc. To save calling parents to drop off fresh clothes, the school keeps a small supply of clean spare clothing, so students can quickly change and move on with their day.
If you have any clean t-shirts, long sleeve tops or shorts/pants that your child will no longer need (in good condition), please consider dropping them off to the Sick Bay.
Thank you for your support.
Susan Bishop - Assembly this Friday at 2:45pm
As shared recently, Susan Bishop, a long-standing teacher at SKiPPS, retired at the end of 2025 after an extraordinary 35 years of service to St Kilda Park Primary School.
We warmly invite past and present members of our school community to join us in celebrating and thanking Susan for the difference she has made to so many lives.
Since beginning in 1990, Susan has made a lasting contribution to our community as a classroom teacher, PE teacher, librarian and most recently as our specialist Philosophy teacher.
We are delighted to welcome Susan back to SKiPPS this Friday 24 April, where she will spend time with students from 2:00pm, followed by a 2:45pm assembly where we will formally acknowledge her dedication and remarkable contribution to our school.

Sexuality Education Program – Parent Information Session Monday 27th April
This term, students will participate in our classroom sexuality health program, Talking the Talk, developed by sexual health nurse and educator Vanessa Hamilton.
This program focuses on physical, social and emotional changes, protective behaviours and consent. Lessons are age appropriate, aligned with the Australian Curriculum, and delivered by classroom teachers using a factual and respectful approach.
We recognise and respect the important role families play in this area and hope the program supports ongoing conversations at home. If you would like to discuss the program further, or if you prefer your child not to participate, please contact Neil Scott at neil.scott@education.vic.gov.au.
