CHS Athletics 11 - 13 September

During week 8 Laura Aquilini, Ebony Knox, Bryce Riley, Darcy Rolph, Toby Rolph and Amber Thomas travelled to Sydney to compete in the CHS Athletics Carnival. All students competed to the best of their ability and most recorded personal best performances.

The highlight of the three days came in the last two hours of competition. Toby Rolph came home from the carnival with a bronze medal in the 14 years 100m recording a time of 11.78, this was closely followed by Darcy Rolph winning the silver medal in the 16 years discus (37.34m) – what an awesome achievement. Well done, boys.

The behaviour of the students was excellent, and they were a credit to their families and the school. A huge thank you to the devoted group of parents who travelled with their children to Sydney.

Boys Rugby League

On Wednesday 18 September Mr Cook & Mr Jones took our boys Rugby league students to Inverell. The U14s team was undefeated in their fixture rounds. They made it to the finals and will now proceed through to Tamworth on Thursday week 2 of term 4.

U17s were also undefeated in all their games but due to combining with Barraba players were ineligible to proceed through to Tamworth.

All players played extremely well in hot conditions, and they represented the school with great behaviour and sportsmanship.

Netball Clinic

THS received a sporting schools grant in Term 3. On Thursday 12 September students participated in a Netball clinic, facilitated by Netball NSW. Netball students who have represented THS, are members of a club or who participate in Wednesday netball for sport, will receive additional coaching from Netball NSW in Week 10.

Thank you to Mr Cook, Mrs Jones & Netball NSW for organising this fantastic opportunity for our students.

Girls Cricket

Congratulations to Ellie, Kyanne & Olivia who all gained selection in the North West Girls Cricket team following the trials on 9 September in Tamworth. Congratulations!
