Auxiliary News

Another Term has nearly finished, with one Term remaining for the year – time does fly! Thank you to the school community who supported the recent Auxiliary Annual Morning Tea – it was a full house, and our speakers presented with informative humour. Thanks to those families who contributed their time and talents with morning tea goodies, raffle prizes and setting up and packing down for the event. Special thanks to Julia Sertorio, Anthea Benness, Jane Redolatti and Louise Fortey who managed the kitchen, the Year 10 waiters, and other helpers during the event.

The morning tea is the main Auxiliary fundraiser event for the year, with the funds raised used to support the students and TC families (both directly or indirectly), with donations to school events (e.g. Year 12 Ball, welcome and orientation morning teas), supporting events through provision of consumables, kitchen items, and sponsoring school projects and Art Awards. The event this year raised close to $10,000, so thank you to those who contributed to the success in some way.

The Auxiliary will be supporting the Year 12 TOBA Graduation Breakfast on Thursday, 19 October, at which we join with Year 11 parents to serve our outgoing cohort of students and families. If you are able to assist, please contact TC Events Coordinator Miss Melanie Dunn by emailing events@trinity.wa.edu.au.

Finally, Auxiliary AGM is scheduled for Monday, 23 October at 8.30am, and we warmly invite all parents to attend. We are looking for members for the committee, with all positions available. If you are interested in becoming an Auxiliary member, please feel free to contact me directly.  Otherwise, please register your interest by clicking here. AGM minutes and agenda are available on the Auxiliary Facebook group page; please feel free to join by clicking here.

We wish all our TC families a restful upcoming holiday and look forward to seeing you refreshed for Term 4!

Mrs Melanie Day

President, TC Auxiliary

Endorsement of the Uluru Statement from the Heart

Edmund Rice Education Australia unconditionally extends our support for the 2017 Uluru Statement from the Heart. The Uluru Statement from the Heart is an invitation to the Australian people from First Nations Australians to walk together to build a better future. We accept this invitation and urge all across Australia to do so as a critical step towards Reconciliation.

We stand in solidarity, alongside our First Nations peoples, in their calls for a Voice and acknowledgment enshrined in the Australian Constitution. We believe that our future as a nation must be based on justice and liberation and that our First Nations peoples are entitled to the democratic right to have a voice indecisions that affect them.

The establishment of a First Nations Voice to Parliament enshrined in the Constitution, and the establishment of a Makarrata Commission for the purpose of truth-telling is at the centre of this justice. We support this road to Treaty. We commit to spread awareness of and support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart in all of our schools and communities. The Uluru Statement from the Heart will be displayed in all of our school communities as a sign of our commitment to these imperatives.
