100 Days of School
On Wednesday, 29th July, our Prep/One students celebrated an incredible 100 days of school! It was a wonderful day filled with fun, laughter and lots of exciting activities.
To begin our celebrations, students counted 10 rows of 10 Froot Loops and then threaded them onto string to create their very own 100 Days of School necklaces. They then enjoyed a fun game of Pass the Parcel, with a special surprise hidden beneath each layer for every student.
The excitement continued as students walked around the classroom collecting 100 food items to celebrate this special milestone. There was plenty of dancing and singing throughout the day, creating a wonderful atmosphere of celebration.
At the end of the day, we were delighted to welcome our families into the classroom to enjoy a slideshow showcasing some of the wonderful learning and experiences our students have enjoyed throughout their first 100 days of school.
It was a fantastic day, and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate just how much our students have learned, grown and achieved. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them!
Welcoming Our Friends from Japan!
What an incredible week we have had hosting the students and staff from our Japanese sister school! Our campus has been buzzing with excitement, cultural exchange, and new friendships that we know will last long after our guests return home.
Our visitors jumped right into school life, joining our students in a variety of classes from Maths and Science to Art and Music. Our Japanese guests shared traditional arts and cultural presentations, while our students loved showing off their everyday routines and practicing their language skills in real-time. The energy in the classrooms was contagious, filled with shared laughter, interactive games, and mutual learning.
Exploring Beyond the Classroom
Outside of school, our guests got to experience the best of our local region! Highlights of their excursions included:
- Werribee Zoo: Getting up close with native animals and exploring our beautiful natural environment.
- City Tour: Taking in the sights, history, and culture of our city.
- Shared Adventures: Enjoying picnics, local food tastings, and memorable group outings with their host brothers and sisters.
An exchange program like this is only possible through the immense generosity of our community. To our incredible host families: thank you!
Opening your homes, sharing your daily lives, and offering such warm hospitality gave our guests an unforgettable, authentic experience. The tearful goodbyes at departure time were a testament to the deep bonds formed in such a short time. You represented our school community with true generosity and warmth.
We are already looking forward to Bayside’s visit to Japan next year! Thank you to all the staff, students, and families who made this visit such an overwhelming success. Arigatou gozaimasu!
City Experience: Facing the Hard Questions!
Our recent City Experience was a great two weeks of hands-on lessons in community and leadership! A highlight was the visit to Parliament with a chance meeting with our local MP and the new Premier.
Our students truly rose to the occasion stepping up with sharp, insightful, and considered questions that left our leaders impressed (and even a little stumped at times!). It was wonderful to see our young people engage so passionately with current issues and hold decision-makers to account.
Great work to all the students and staff involved for representing our school with such maturity, curiosity, and confidence!
