Mandarin Newsletter – Week 4 Term 3 2026

Junior Level

In Term 3, our Prep classes have begun exploring a new topic focused on body parts, animals, and useful expressions for everyday conversations. Students have also enjoyed learning to sing the classic Chinese nursery rhymes, which reinforce their new vocabulary in a fun and engaging way. The Year 1/2 classes have been reviewing and extending their understanding of family members, including the different terms used to describe grandparents and aunties on their mother's and father's sides. Students have also explored how numbers are formed in Chinese through both speaking and writing activities, further developing their language skills.

Middle Level

The Year 3/4 classes have continued exploring the topic of food in Chinese, besides learning useful daily phrases and conversations. After reviewing and extending their vocabulary for fruits and colours during the first few weeks, they have also been learning to describe the different tastes of fruits and use complete sentences to express and discuss their preferences for various fruits.

Senior Level

The senior students have continued exploring the topic of travel and holidays during the first few weeks of Term 3. They have been practising speaking using complete sentences to discuss the countries they have visited and the destinations they would like to explore in the future. This term, students have also extended their learning to include different modes of transportation. We have also been delighted to welcome Yihan, our exchange student from China, who has been assisting with speaking and writing activities during our Mandarin lessons.
