What an adventure Term 3 has been for our library at St Patrick’s! Book Week is a special time when schools and libraries across Australia join in the celebration of children’s literature. Hopefully you were able to join us and spot hundreds of characters, from 101 Dalmations, The Lorax and of course our fabulous Year 6 students who brought to life the magic of Bananas in Pyjamas. CBCA Book Week was first held in Australia in 1945. Since this time Book Week has become ingrained in our culture and is much more than a parade. At St Patrick’s it provides a golden opportunity for students to connect with books and associate reading with fun. Long after students have left St Patrick’s they hold special memories of Book Week.

Book Fair Reorders

As per our Compass post we are working hard on the distribution of our Book Fair reorders. We are receiving deliveries from Scholastic on a daily basis. Thank you for your patience, it is important we accurately process the large number of reorders and we will deliver goods to classrooms as soon as possible.

New Books and Book Donations

Our students are already enjoying new books from the proceeds of Book Fair and our book donations thanks to the generosity of our St Patrick’s community. We have purchased and barcoded titles to suit all age groups, from picture books, novels and our ever popular non fiction collections. These new titles are flying off the shelves and it has made all the hard work of Book Fair 2026 worthwhile.

Final Call! Premier’s Reading Challenge

K-2 students have now finished the Premier’s Reading Challenge and will receive their certificates during library/class time towards the end of Term 4. Congratulations to these students and a big thank you to their teachers!

Final Call: Reading Records for students in Years 3-6 must be finalised by Friday 11th September so that we can validate all entries. We can see over 90 Yr 3-6 entries for PRC - what a wonderful response. These students will be presented with their certificates at one of our final assemblies in 2026. More details will be shared closer to the date.
