Parent Support

Student growth

At Preston High School, we are all about growth. Our mission is to know where our students currently are with their learning, where they need to get to next and how they are going to get there. We support our students to know this too.

Across the year, Compass is your go-to place for checking in on your young person's growth as we continuously report their academic and personal progress via Compass Chronicles and Learning Tasks.

However, at the end of each semester, we also release two compilation reports, for your reference.

Semester Reports

Semester reports consist of two parts;

  1. An overall level of achievement for students against the Victorian Curriculum Standards, and
  2. Learning Task results for the entire semester.

For more information about how to read our semester reports, including a handy video guide, please see our school website:

https://phs.vic.edu.au/current-families/supporting-your-child/semester-reports/

This semester for the first time, some of our subject areas will be using the new Victorian Curriculum 2.0. Whilst the information will be the same, if you have any queries, please reach out to your young person's classroom teacher via Compass if you have any specific questions.

Growth Progress Reports

As you can probably tell from the title, Growth Progress Reports are a compilation of your young person's focus areas for growth.

These include:

  • Growth Habits
  • Attendance and punctuality
  • Organisation
  • Victorian Curriculum Achievement Levels
  • Learner Progress on Assessment

This report gives you a longitudinal snapshot of your young person's progress since their enrolment at Preston. More information will be released in the newsfeed - however, feel free to review our Growth Progress Reports webinar we completed a few years ago for further detail:
