From our Principal

As we near to the end of term 2, I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge everyone's great work to help make Croydon SDS a great school.  

Students have worked diligently through their learning tasks with many achieving their IEP learning goals, while some have even exceeded their goal.  I was both pleased and proud to hear last week of the number of students reaching their learning goals has increased from previous years.  Over 60 per cent of learning goals were met.   End of semester reports will be published this week.  I encourage you to read these and celebrate with your child the learning growth they have made over the first semester. 

I would also like to acknowledge the work of our school council.  We meet twice a term to discuss many school governance matters.  This term we have discussions on acknowledging our students in their final year in primary.  Commencing this year, we will hold a special school assembly to say congratulations and well done to our students finishing in primary and moving to secondary.  Students will be given a certificate and wristband to acknowledge their completion of their primary school years at Croydon SDS. 

Policy Review

Last week, school council reviewed and endorsed an Inclusion and Diversity Policy and Yard Duty and Supervision Policy, and a new ICT Acceptable Use Agreement Guideli.

New Pool Open!

We have now received our Aquatics Facility Registration from the council; pool staff are trained to use the new facilities and are planned for students to commence the swimming program.  Our secondary and transition students will have their first swimming session this week with specialist teacher Ben and education support staff Laura and Jen.  Primary students will commence at the start of term 3.  Please keep an eye out for communication about your child's swimming day and what they will need to bring to school on these days. 

School Photos

The School Photographer will be at our school on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th July to take student photos.

Photo order envelopes will be coming home this week.  These must be returned by Monday 28th July with either cash or a money order payment inside the envelope, or having paid online and filling in the receipt details.

New Building Opening

On Wednesday 6 August, we will have two special celebrations to officially open our new building.  In the morning, a local MP will visit for a school tour and special whole school assembly lead by our student leaders to cut the red ribbon and unveil a plaque to commemorate the opening.  

From 2-4pm the wider school community and past Croydon SDS families, students and staff are invited to attend an opening which will include student led tours and an afternoon tea to celebrate our modern and fit for purpose new office, warm water pool, library, gym, staffroom and a classroom.  Please feel free to share this invitation with any past Croydon SDS families you may see.
