Primary 1 Incursion- Croydon Fire Station

On Friday the 6th of June, our Primary 1 students had a special visit from our local Croydon Fire Station. During this semester, students have been learning about places in our community and the community helpers who work there. Students had the opportunity to meet with our local firefighters and explore the resources and equipment needed to keep our community safe.

Primary 2 Excursion

Last week, our Primary 2 classrooms visited We Rock the Spectrum play centre. Students had the opportunity to put their travel training and bus safety skills into action as they travelled on the school bus to Moorabbin. Once they arrived, everyone had a great time choosing from a range of play-based activities. These activities included swings, trampolines, flying foxes, building blocks, tunnels, kitchen corners and much more. Students had the opportunity to practice sharing equipment, waiting for their turn, communicating requests and interacting with their peers. Well done everyone!

Transition Students Experience Outdoor Adventure at Blackwood – Week 9

In Week 9, Croydon SDS Transition students attended a three-day camp at Blackwood Outdoor School, set in the beautiful Wombat State Forest. The experience focused on building independence, teamwork, and resilience through hands-on outdoor learning.

Students participated in a range of activities including bush cooking, hut building, low and high ropes, and archery. These activities supported key Transition goals, helping students to develop problem-solving skills and work together in new ways.

With the support of staff, students embraced the challenge, learning to manage their own belongings, try new foods, and navigate the routines of camp life. One of the most memorable moments were the shared meals giving students a chance to bond with peers.

The growth in confidence, communication, and social connection was clearly visible throughout the camp. Staff were impressed with how students stepped outside their comfort zones and supported one another.

We’re proud of all students who attended and grateful to the staff who made the experience possible. Camps like these are a valuable part of our Transition program, providing real-life opportunities to prepare for the future. Check out some photos and the awesome book the students wrote!
