A Memorable Camp Experience

A total of 183 students wrote an important chapter in their growth journey during their very first secondary school camp experience. Both day and night at the camp were filled with students’ laughter and joyful voices.

The eleven daytime activities were exciting and diverse, including connecting water pipes, building wooden huts, archery, canoeing, ball games, cycling, flying fox, fishing, photo scavenger hunts, shooting, and maze treasure hunts. These experiences helped students get to know each other better through interaction, challenge themselves, build confidence during their growth, and develop leadership and teamwork skills.

The nighttime activities were equally unforgettable. On one night, students turned on their flashlights under the dark night sky and walked together in orderly and energetic groups. Listening to real scary stories in complete darkness was an exciting and unique experience. On another night, students participated in prize quizzes, singing, and dancing performances in the hall, freely expressing themselves and releasing youthful energy to vibrant music.

Camp also provided an important classroom for developing responsibility. During breakfast, lunch, and dinner, students on duty arranged cutlery and drinks neatly and cleaned tables and floors after meals. Students independently packed and unpacked their luggage, queued patiently for meals, and strictly managed their daily schedules. These everyday life details were completed in an organised and orderly manner under guidance.

Although they were away from their families, in this warm camp community, students received encouragement and support from classmates and friends, careful care from teachers, wellbeing staff, and parent volunteers, as well as professional guidance from camp staff. In a safe, joyful, and caring environment, students continuously developed and grew stronger.

The camp witnessed the outstanding qualities shown by DSC students: optimism and a positive attitude, courage to challenge themselves, resilience, tolerance and inclusiveness, active participation, responsibility, leadership, execution ability, teamwork spirit, accountability, a sense of mission, and a never-give-up spirit.

Mandarin and Food Tech Teacher

I enjoyed camp immensely camp was a great opportunity to work with others, to try new things , meet new people , and go outside my comfort zone. Camp has helped me become more social towards my peers and not being scared to talk to new people. Some of my favourite activities were the flying fox, mountain biking , and hut building. After the hut building, I felt cold and betrayed when I realised it wasn't nearly as waterproof as I hoped. Overall camp was such a fun experience, and I learnt so much.

         白天的十一项活动精彩纷呈，包括连接水管、搭建木屋、射箭、划船、球类运动、骑自行车、绳索滑降、钓鱼、寻宝拍照、射击以及迷宫寻宝等活动。这些体验让学生们在互动中加深彼此认识，在挑战中突破自我，在成长中建立自信，并培养领导能力与团队合作精神。

         夜间活动同样令人难忘。其中一个夜晚，学生们在漆黑的夜空下点亮手电，结伴夜行，队伍整齐而有气势。在伸手不见五指的夜色中聆听真实的恐怖故事，是一段既刺激又特别的体验。另一个夜晚，学生们在大厅内参加有奖问答、唱歌与舞蹈表演，在充满活力的音乐中尽情展现自我，释放青春活力。

          露营也为每一位学生提供了培养责任感的重要课堂。三餐用餐时段，值勤学生将餐具与饮料摆放得整齐有序，餐后亦将餐桌与地面清理干净。学生们独立整理与装卸行李，耐心排队用餐，并严格管理作息时间。这些日常生活细节，在指导下都被妥善、有序地完成。

          虽然远离家人，但在这个充满温暖的露营大家庭中，学生们得到了来自同学与朋友的鼓励与支持，来自老师、身心健康工作人员及家长志愿者的细心关怀，以及营地专业人员的悉心指导。学生们在安全、愉快与充满关怀的环境中不断锻炼与成长。

       营地见证了DSC学子所展现的优秀品格：乐观进取、勇于挑战自我、坚强坚韧、宽容包容、积极融入、勇于担当、具备领导力与执行力、富有合作精神、责任感、使命感，以及永不言败的精神。

Year 7 Camp Reflections

This year at camp we had a blast it was so fun we done so many cool activities like the flying fox, canoeing, mountain biking, hut building, yabbying, scavenger hunt, photo hunt and lazer tag but that wasn’t the main reason we went to camp, the main reason was to make new friends and meet some teachers you might of not known. This years camp we went to camp week away like said it was so much fun my favourite activities were the flying fox mountain biking and the hut building the canoeing was fun except the part of freezing to death, after all this years camp was amazing!

I think camp was a really good way to have fun while learning at the same time. My favourite food at camp were the pancakes we ate for breakfast. I built stronger relationships with others. - Xavier S-D

I really like the night walk. The bike riding was fun. Canoeing equals to getting splashed but it was very fun. -Sarah H

My three favourite activities at camp were bike riding, ball games and flying fox. I really loved my cottage, the rooms were very nice. - Queenie M
