2025 Premier’s VCE Awards - Student Achievement 

Year 12 student Konstantinos Kiousis was recognised for his outstanding achievement in VCE Greek at the 2025 Premier's VCE Awards ceremony, held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Tuesday, 21 July 2026. It was a privilege for Principal Sue Prosenica and Greek teacher Olga Antonakis to attend the ceremony and celebrate this exceptional achievement alongside Konstantinos and his family.

The Premier's VCE Awards recognise the highest-performing students in each VCE study. Award recipients receive a special recognition certificate from The Hon. Ben Carroll MP, Deputy Premier and Minister for Education. We are incredibly proud of Konstantinos and acknowledge the commitment, focus, perseverance and academic excellence required to achieve this exceptional result.

Q&A with Konstantinos on his VCE success

Reflecting on the Achievement – study strategies:

• What specific habit or study routine helped you get this top score? I made sure to get constant feedback from my teacher, then applied it by writing and speaking regularly to keep improving.
• How do you approach your schoolwork and learning in general? I try to stay consistent, breaking tasks into small, manageable chunks that I complete daily and mostly in the morning, rather than leaving things until the last minute.
• How did you push through when the work got tough? I reminded myself how important my connection to the language and culture I grew up with is to me. I also had constant support from my teacher and family.

The Ceremony Experience:

• What was the best part of the awards event today? Seeing my family and teachers there, and celebrating with other award winners.
• What were you thinking when your name was called? I was excited to be recognised for my effort, especially in front of my family, teachers, and everyone else there.
• How does it feel to see all your late-night study hours pay off? I actually did most of my study very early in the morning rather than late at night, but it felt really rewarding to see those early starts pay off.

Looking Forward – future goals:

• How has winning this award changed your plans for next year? It's given me more confidence to keep Greek as a core part of my life going forward, whether through study or just staying connected to the language and my culture.
• What advice would you give to younger students just starting this VCE subject? Stay consistent, don't be afraid to make mistakes, and use the language outside the classroom whenever you can.
• What do you want to study or do next, now that high school is wrapping up? I haven't settled on an exact path yet, but I know I want to chase something that challenges me and pushes me right to the limit of what I'm capable of.
