Day for Daniel - Friday 30 October
Dear Families,
Day for Daniel is held annually in memory of Daniel Morcombe, a young boy from Queensland who went missing. Daniel’s family now works through the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to help children across Australia learn about safety and support schools with child safety education.
This Friday 30th October, our school will be recognising Day for Daniel. This special day helps us learn how to keep children safe and reminds everyone to talk to trusted adults if they ever feel worried or unsure.
In the lead-up to Day for Daniel, the children have been learning about child safety during their Wellbeing and SEL lessons. These lessons help students understand how to stay safe, recognise safe and unsafe situations, be aware of their body clues and know who they can go to for help.
To show our support for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, we invite all students to wear a splash of red with their school uniform on the day. This could be something simple like:
A red T-shirt or jumper
A red ribbon or scrunchie
Red socks, shoes, or hat
Together, we can help children feel safe, strong, and supported every day. Let’s all join in to promote the Child Safety message.
If you would like to continue the conversation about Child Safety at home for your child, please access the link below from the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.
Positive Behaviour for Learning
The weekly PBL rule is drawn from our Behaviour Matrix. Each week our children focus on a whole school rule that meets our five school expectations.
This week’s PBL focus is:
EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME
We are learning to listen to each other.
