Celebrating St Luke

Next week, our school comes together to celebrate the Feast of St Luke, our school’s patron saint. It is a special day of celebration for our whole community, a chance to give thanks for who we are at St Luke’s and to celebrate the faith, spirit and community that we share.

St Luke was a physician, a companion of St Paul, and the writer of both the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. His Gospel is filled with stories that show the compassion and mercy of Jesus including the Good Samaritan, the Lost Sheep and the Prodigal Son.

As a St Luke’s community, we are reminded to follow his example by noticing others, showing compassion and bringing the love of Jesus into the everyday moments of our lives.

St. Luke’s School Prayer

St. Luke, friend of God, 

teller of sacred stories,

you showed us how to follow Jesus 

with hearts of kindness and care.

Through your words in the Gospel,

 you taught us how Jesus showed love, 

how He cared for those in need, 

and how He trusted in God, 

as Mary did, with open and faithful hearts.

Patron saint of doctors and artists, 

you used your gifts to write, to teach and to inspire. 

Help us to do the same; 

to be inquisitive learners,

to use our gifts and talents with joy,

and to bring light and hope to others.

Give us courage and strength

to stand up for what we believe,

and wisdom to walk our journey together

with kindness, respect and gratitude.

St. Luke, friend of God,

pray for us,

and guide us always

to share God’s love as you did.
