From the Principal

September,  17 2026

Term 3 has been a great time for learning, especially in literacy. Mentor texts have helped students grow their vocabulary, understand more deeply, and improve their writing. Students also took part in many extra curricular activities, making happy memories they’ll remember from their time at POPS.

We are lucky to have dedicated staff, students who enjoy learning and feel part of their school, and parents who give so much support.

I hope everyone has a relaxing holiday break. Good luck if your footy team is in the finals, may they make it to the last Saturday in September.

Aussie of the Month

Congratulations to our SRC members Molly, Annika and Maggie for leading our Aussie of the Month Assembly. We also welcomed Mr Pinto, who shared insights into his Chilean culture, including Chile’s geography, climate, traditional clothing and the fun fact that Australia’s third Prime Minister was born there.

Our Year 2 Aussie of the Month recipient was Amanee (1/2DK). Amanee is a deserving awardee who consistently demonstrates our POPS values. She is community minded, has created posters promoting our school values, and is a caring, helpful classmate and school citizen.

F- 2 Camp day

Yesterday we enjoyed a fantastic Foundation to Year 2 Camp Day. Foundation students began with hut building with their teddies, while Year 1/2 students joined in craft, hut building, damper making and performances. In the afternoon, Year 1/2 students stayed for dinner, and our Year 2s finished the day with a movie in their pyjamas and sleeping bags.

Thank you to the parents who assisted with food preparation, and to our wonderful staff; Ms McRae, Mrs Ingle, Mr Allegretto, Miss Keddou, Mrs Bethell, Mrs Moore, Limei Bian, Miss Sarah and Mrs Carbone, along with our fantastic ES team Mrs G, Mrs P and Mrs Rosenthal for making the day so special.

Year 3 Camp

Our Year 3s are having a wonderful time at their first camp, enjoying frisbee golf, damper making, rock wall climbing, the low ropes course, and a clear favourite,  the Flying Fox. The plentiful, home‑cooked meals at Candlebark Farm make the experience even better.

Thank you to Mrs Quah, Mr Moore and Mrs Bullen for supporting our students, and to parent helpers Mr Pinto, Mr Gribbin and Mr Quagliani.

Parking Changes – Bowmore Avenue

A reminder that Manningham Council has approved the updated parking restrictions in Bowmore Avenue. The former 1/4P spaces will become ‘Kiss & Go’ zones from Term 4, with parents required to stay in their car and limit stopping to 2 minutes. New signage will be installed during the September holidays.

Shelter In Place Compliance Work

At this stage, we have not received a timeline for when the works around the Arts Centre will begin. We are also awaiting confirmation of the new play equipment design before sharing it with the community. We will keep you updated as soon as we have more information.

Student Achievements

Please continue to share student achievements big or small for the whole school community and acknowledge.

Congratulations to Chloe, Lucy, Sienna, Ella and Layla on reaching their basketball grand final. A special shout out to Chloe, who received MVP for the game as well as the Coach’s Award, an outstanding effort.
