From the Principal

Principal Conference

I am currently preparing this week's newsletter from Creswick, where I am attending the Victorian Catholic Secondary Principal's Association Conference. The event has provided valuable opportunities for reflection on the essential qualities of authentic Catholic schools. I look forward to sharing new insights and initiatives that can be incorporated at St Anne's College.

Reconciliation Week

St Anne's College observed Reconciliation Week with a variety of activities. I joined our FIRE Carriers at the Shepparton Sorry Day Event at Monash Park along with other local schools and community groups. Additionally, Pastoral Group sessions were used to learn about and reflect on the significance of Reconciliation Week in Australia. A number of students and staff also attended the Diocesan Reconciliation mass in Benalla.

Confirmation and First Eucharist

Good luck to the students celebrating the sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation this week. It is a truly meaningful occasion for the children and their families. We extend our heartfelt blessings and best wishes for the celebration on Sunday. Mass will be at 11.30am at St Mel's Christ the King Church and will be celebrated by Bishop Shane and all are welcome to attend.

Cultural Celebration Day

Our Cultural Celebration Day was a great success. This event provides an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the rich cultural diversity within our St Anne's community. Students were invited to wear traditional cultural attire to mark the occasion. The day centred around a flag presentation ceremony where the flags of all cultures represented at St Anne’s College were presented and we reflected on the importance of diversity in our school. Thank you to Kate McGrath for organising the day.

I am pleased to announce that I will be presenting a Principal's Award each week to students who achieve wonderful things at school or in their personal lives. Congratulations to Amitoj and Kai who are our first two recipients.

Article of the week

Dr Justin Coulson discusses the The 7 Habits of Happy Families. Dr Coulson has surveyed and worked with thousands of families over the years, these are a small handful of habits that he sees parents practice that make their families happy. And they are astonishingly powerful.
