Around the College

BOOK FAIR

Wow! What an incredible turnout we had for our FIRST EVER Book Fair! Thank you to our college community for all your support.

Together we have raised a whopping $4514!!! This means we are able to buy $1579 worth of brand new books for our college.

We are so excited to be able to offer this as an annual event to help build our library and classroom resources for the benefit of our students and community.

Huge thanks to Julie Villani, our Library Technician for all her hard work and dedication in making this event such a ROAR-ing success. Julie would also like to thank her amazing Year 6 helpers and the extra staff who assisted with running this fantastic event.

Julie will announce the raffle winners on Tuesday, when winners be able to visit the library to spend their vouchers.

Cultural Celebration Day

What a vibrant and joyful day we all shared!

Our annual 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 brought the St Anne’s community together to honour the rich tapestry of cultural backgrounds that form the heart and soul of our college.

The day began with a parade of flags and a celebration ceremony for our Foundation to Year 6 students. They were captivated by a traditional Indian dance, beautifully performed by five of our talented Primary School students.

At lunchtime, our Secondary students enjoyed a relaxed BBQ lunch accompanied by lawn games and hands-on D.I.Y. activities, creating a fun and festive atmosphere.

In the afternoon, our Primary students were treated to a lively fair complete with gelato, engaging activities, and the delightful sounds of Adrian playing the piano accordion. Adding to the spirit of inclusion, students also signed ‘welcome’ on the chalkboard in their culture's language.

With a wide variety of activities—cultural crafts, dancing, face painting, lawn games, and native floral arranging—there truly was something for everyone to enjoy.

It was wonderful to see our students and staff learning from one another and sharing in each other’s traditions. Through understanding and respecting different cultures, we continue to foster a community of unity, acceptance, and harmony.

Sorry Day 2025

National Sorry Day, is a day dedicated to acknowledging and remembering the history of forcibly removing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families and communities, a period known as the "Stolen Generations". It is a day of healing and remembrance, marking the tabling of the Bringing Them Home report in Parliament, which documented the harm and impact of these removals.

Bridging Now to Next, the theme for National Reconciliation Week 2025, calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.

Monday, May 26 was Sorry Day. St Anne's Representatives attended the Sorry Day Commemoration at Monash Park, Shepparton with Koorie Education Worker, Leonie.

The day began with a Welcome to Country from Neil Morris then an introduction to the Acknowledgement by Diedre Robertson, followed by Bobby Nicholls speaking on the importance of Sorry Day.

Zander and Charlotte did an outstanding job for the college reading about the background to Sorry Day. Zander spoke about the 'Bringing Them Home Report' and Charlotte spoke about the importance of acknowledging and paying respect to the members of the Stolen Generations, to their families and their communities. We are very proud of them both, they did a fabulous job!

Schools who attended on the day were: Shepparton Christian College, All Saints Anglican School, Goulburn Valley Grammar School, Sirius College, Notre Dame College, Numurkah Secondary College, Cobram Anglican Grammar School, Greater Shepparton Secondary College, ASHE, Berry Street and a number of primary schools attended the commemoration.

The weather held out for the event luckily and had a fantastic turn out supported by local Elders, local Indigenous community & many agencies such as Rumbalara, Greater Shepparton City Council, The Bridge, etc.

National Reconciliation Week

In the week leading up, Year 5 and 6 students combined forces to make a fabulous display for National Reconciliation Week. The display included Indigenous colours, lettering and hand decorated leaves, demonstrating Australia's reconciliation journey.
