Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope

Family Mass

This Sunday 7th December is our final Family Mass for the year. I encourage all our students and families to attend at 9.30am in St Brigid’s Church. At this mass you will also have the opportunity to meet your new Principal Mrs Amanda Sheridan.

Advent

Last Sunday marked the first day of Advent which is the beginning of the church liturgical year. During this mass the first of the Advent Candles was lit. The Advent Candles are the most visual and meaningful symbol of the season, showing the light of Christ growing as we get closer to Christmas.

SundayColourThemeWhy this theme?
First SundayPurple Hope (The Prophet's Candle)We light this candle to remember the prophets (especially Isaiah) who brought a message of hope and foretold that the Savior (Jesus) was coming.
Second SundayPurple Peace (The Bethlehem Candle)We light a second purple candle to reflect on the peace promised by Christ, and we remember Mary and Joseph's faithful journey to Bethlehem.
Third SundayRose PinkJoy (The Shepherd's Candle)This Sunday is called Gaudete Sunday (from the Latin for "Rejoice"). The rose color symbolizes the joy that the waiting is nearly over, just as the shepherds were filled with joy at the good news of the angels.
Fourth SundayPurple Love (The Angel's Candle)We light the final purple candle to celebrate the profound love of God, who sent His only Son into the world. It focuses on the messages of the angels and the closeness of Christ's birth.
