Girls Rugby League Gala Day
On Thursday last week, the Year 5 and 6 girls entered a Rugby League gala day. We played teams like Mudgee and Cudgegong. Half of the girls on the team had never played Rugby League before! It was one of the best ‘school’ days ever!
As the ball went round, our team supported and cheered each other on, try after try, tackle after tackle, and high-five after high-five. Honestly, we were over the moon to find out that we won all our games, but we were most happy about the team spirit and good sportsmanship. After every game, we shook the opposition's hands, thanked the referee, and sat together laughing about our stumbles and mistakes.
From all the girls, we would like to thank our coach and Year 6 teacher, Mr Bishenden. He was proud of us during every tackle - especially because we all had a go!
We would also like to thank the parents for letting us go on this great day and for driving us to Bathurst. Last but CERTAINLY not least, thank you for supporting us through every step, every tackle, and every dropped ball.
In conclusion, we hope that future McAuley League players enjoy this day as much as we did and get the same amazing feeling and experience that we had.
