Term 4
At the end of last term, 58 Churchill and Morwell Year 10 students and staff attended our Tasmania Camp. The week started at 4:00 am Monday morning, with many bleary-eyed people gathering at the Morwell Campus ready to board a coach destined for the Melbourne Airport. Staff and students then boarded a Virgin Australia flight to Hobart Airport. The week was jam packed with activities, including bowling, minigolf, a trip to Port Arthur Historic Site, plenty of sightseeing, a night in Glass Bay, an afternoon at Cataract Gorge, several shopping expeditions and plenty of good food, before heading to Devonport to board the Spirit of Tasmania for our overnight return trip. We arrived safely back in Geelong at 6:00 am, before disembarking and boarding a coach returning to the Morwell Campus. Students and staff had a great time, and the weather was just perfect…before returning to the cold of Victoria!
If your student has selected to undertake a VET course as part of their VCE/VCEVM, there will be a compulsory orientation day on Wednesday 15th November. Further details will be sent to individual students regarding times, location, etc. If you have any questions please contact the VET Coordinator, Sarah Pedlow, on 5132 3800.
Year 10 Formal is scheduled to take place in the function room at the Churchill Hotel on Thursday 23rd of November, as a celebration of student’s time at the Junior Campus before they transition to the Senior Campus the following week. This is not a compulsory event but has always been popular and a nice way to end this chapter of their lives…not to mention a great excuse to get dressed up. Further details will be available in the coming days.
Students will commence their senior schooling on Monday 27th of November, at the University Campus. This is a compulsory two-week program that will introduce students to senior schooling and begin work for the following year. During this time students will receive their timetables, get to meet their teachers, and commence work for the 2024 school year. If you have any questions, please contact Todd Miller, Year 10 Team Leader, on 5132 3700. Or the University Campus on 5132 3800.
Life and Death sculptures:
Students have been exploring symbolism in 3D sculpture where they show chosen objects that represented both aspects of life and aspects of death. Students used a range of different materials to craft their creations.
Adding animated characters to old landscape paintings:
Students have been working on adding characters to an existing old painting and making sure the additions interact with the scene.
