Final Weeks Learning Tasks and Common Assessment Tasks (CATs)

Students have their final opportunities over the next 4 weeks to practice skills across all subjects and show learning progress. We wish all students success during the final weeks of Term 4.

Advanced Learning Program for Students (ALPS)

Students’ Learning Behaviours, the Semester One Reports and Term 3 and 4 results will determine whether they continue in this class next year. A process involving written and phone contact with home, setting goals and participating in an interview are part of the steps taken to ensure students are up to the challenge and expectations of this program.

Health Education

Our highly experienced school nurse, Sarah Pearse-Clark, has been teaching aspects of body anatomy, changes associated with puberty, sexual legality around consent and other information arising from discussion. It is pleasing to hear that our students have been attentive and sensible about topics.

Police to visit us

Through our long-term relationship with local police, such as the former Blue Edge program, Tom (one of our student advocates) has organized for a presentation then discussion aimed at keeping students up-to-date about current issues. We have planned to discuss social media, the role of police, safety in the community and to provide general question time.

Thinking Championships, Medieval Day and the Creative Classroom

What an energetic and enjoyable way to end Term 3! Students are pictured receiving medals for their country team and participating in a range of hands-on learning activities for the annual Thinking Championships week. Numerous students also got into the spirit of dressing in costume for the Year 8 Middle Ages Day – a taste test of this annual Year 8 Humanities event.

2024 Year 8 Karoonda Park/Snowy River Camp

Next year during term one, Year 8 students will have the opportunity to attend a 5-day, 4-night camp at Karoonda Park near Gelantipy from Monday 26th February to Friday 1st March. A cave tour at Buchan Caves will be included. We are making permission forms and payment plans available now to provide time for families to arrange payment.

Karoonda Park is based close to the Snowy River. Students will stay in group cabins and will take part in many activities such as abseiling, flying fox, horse riding, orienteering, swimming, and an overnight camp including rafting on the Snowy River. Tent accommodation will be provided for the camp-out night.

Students need to bring their lunch and a drink bottle for the first day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included each day. A what to bring/packing list will be provided closer to the camp date.

There will be an emphasis on building resilience and confidence, risk taking and team building activities throughout the camp, with students leading their groups through the range of activities provided. Students will have responsibilities during the camp, and they will work in collaboration with their teams to complete these tasks.

The total cost of the camp will be approximately $725.00.  Payment plans are available through the General Office. CSEF funding can be used for this camp. Families receiving Centrelink payments can apply for CSEF funding.  Forms are available at the General Office.  The Government Positive Start program is no longer running so this will be the only Year Level camp for 2024.

The Compass permission and payment forms, including the finalised price, will be available on Compass in the next week or so.  Deposits and payment plans can be made through the General Office. Centre Pay is available to families receiving Centrelink payments and payments can be made through Compass.
