Learning & Teaching
The 2024 St Joseph’s Art Show was an explosion of fun and creativity! We hope that all our visitors were amazed by the creative pieces completed by our students during Visual Arts, Media Arts and the Classroom.
Special thanks to our Arts Team: Media Arts - Claire Forbes, Visual Arts - Shasta Blackmore and Karen Knee, and our student Arts Leaders: Matilde Canella, Isabella Glaessner.
There was a wide variety of artworks that showcased the range of creative talent at St Joseph’s from Prep to Yr 6.
The following areas of Visual Arts were represented: Drawing, Painting, Collage, Modelling, Construction, Threads and Textiles.
In Media Arts, students used materials and media technologies to make media artworks for specific audiences and purposes, using intent, structure, setting and characters to communicate viewpoints and genre conventions.
A special thank you to our families who donated baked goods for the Bake Sale and to those who purchased baked goods, raffle tickets and contributed to the Entry Jar. Raffle prize winners were listed on Compass on Friday 13th September. All funds raised from the Art Show will go towards the further development of the Arts Programs at St Joseph’s.
Mathematics
Congratulations to the Phoenix Club and Phoenix JNR Club!
We are incredibly proud to announce that both the Phoenix Club and Phoenix JNR Club have successfully competed in all four of their respective competitions — Maths Olympiad and Maths Explorer.
Our students demonstrated remarkable commitment and determination as they worked hard to develop new problem-solving skills and apply them in challenging scenarios.
The ability to solve complex problems under pressure, especially within strict time constraints, is no small feat. Both groups of students excelled in honing these skills throughout their competitions, showcasing resilience and critical thinking!
We now excitedly await the final scores from the competition organisers to see whether our school teams and/or individual students will be recognised with awards for their efforts in these international competitions.
We are eager to celebrate their achievements and the outstanding effort they have already demonstrated. Well done to all involved!
