Recurring notices

Yard duty Please ensure you always have the latest yard duty timetable visible in your classroom and that you are familiar with your duty expectations.

Yellow Vests and Bum BagsPlease wear your yellow vests and bum bags for PG duty. It is important that you are visible. If you do not have enough, please ask reception staff and they will give you additional vests.

Active supervision

Roam – move continuously through your allocated area

Build rapport with students- engage them with games

Anticipate behaviours before they escalate- read the Playground Support Document

Phones away, please –  full attention on students at all times

All students must be supervised by a staff member at all times. If a student from your class is taking a movement break and you would like another staff member who is already outside to supervise, please ensure you communicate with them directly.

ALWAYS Check with staff prior to letting a student in an area such as the playground

Seesaw

Please remember to upload photos of students completing all the wonderful activities in the class. The minimum requirement is one photo per student per week. This is important in helping families see the wonderful learning and care you provide each day. Regular updates offer reassurance and help build strong, trusting relationships between families and staff.

AAC Devices

Please ensure your classroom AAC device is charged each day. One member of the classroom staff must take the AAC device with them while on yard duty. We will provide gentle reminders to staff to retrieve it, if it is accidentally left in the classroom.

We will continue to help and model this during check-ins, class visits to support you and increase your confidence on using AAC.

Emails

Please ensure you read your emails before students arrive and after students leave at a minimum to ensure you are up to date.

Primary Sub School - Zoe Pirotta

Welcome to week 5!

Thank you to the primary team, for all your hard work with swimming last week. The program ran well, and I appreciate your flexibility, and support to the students and the primary school team.

When allocated to sandpit yard duty, please ensure all equipment is packed away at the conclusion of outdoor play. This is important to minimise access to items that could potentially be thrown, particularly if students requiring support with regulation access Playground 1.

When discussing student presentation, behaviours, or support needs with families, please avoid deficit-based terms or labels.

Instead, consider the underlying reason, unmet need, environmental factor, communication difference, sensory experience, executive functioning challenge, or skill the student may require support with.

For example, rather than describing a student as “stubborn”, consider whether the student may be communicating a need for predictability, autonomy, processing time, or support with flexibility and transitions, and use neuro-affirming language such as “the student benefits from additional support with transitions”.

Next week, we have a curriculum day on Friday.
