Principal's Report

As seems to now be tradition, our school is represented every year at the RSL ANZAC Day ceremony at the Cenotaph at 11am. On a day with perfect weather for the event, our School Captain, Evelyn spoke beautifully about the importance of remembering the service and sacrifice made during the World Wars, and other conflicts, to ensure that mistakes of the past are not repeated. Our Vice captains, Cooper and Eoghan, with Evelyn following behind, laid a wreath on behalf the whole school.

With fairly short notice, the AEU announced that there will be a half day strike, held on Thursday 7th May, from 8.50-12.38pm, assuming that there is no progress in coming to an agreement with the Department.
These timings effectively mean that staff members taking the Stopwork Action will not be available until the start of lunch at 12.50pm. As such, and due to the number of staff that will not be present, there will have to be some modifications to Thursday’s classes. Periods 5 and 6 will run as normal, and details of the changes impacting periods 1 - 4 will be shared as soon as possible.
If you know your child will not be attending school on Thursday, whether until lunch, or for the whole day, it will assist greatly with planning if you could contact school and let us know, through a phone call, email or attendance note in Compass.
A practice General Achievement Test (GAT) is planned for this day, for any student completing a Unit 3 VCE subject. This opportunity for our students is so important, so is being prioritised to continue as planned. We expect these students to participate (all Year 12s, and 8 x Year 11 students who are taking a Unit 3&4 subject this year).
Students are asked to arrive at 9:50 so the practice GAT can start sharp at 10am. Non-bus travellers can arrive at 9:50. Bus travellers, or students that arrive early, will be provided a space until the commencement.
Please monitor your emails and Compass Newsfeed for updates, as we will endeavour to provide you with as much notice about any changes as soon possible.
