A message from the Principal

As we approach the end of Term 3, our students are being given a wonderful opportunity to take part in a special day of music, theatre and performance.

On Tuesday 15 September, our Foundation to Year 2 students will walk to the National Theatre to see a live performance of Where is the Green Sheep?, based on the much-loved book by Mem Fox and Judy Horacek. Through puppetry, music and storytelling, students will experience a familiar story brought to life on stage.

At the same time, our Year 3 to 6 students will spend the morning with renowned Australian musician and educator Mal Webb. They will enjoy a whole-group concert before taking part in workshops exploring singing, rhythm, body percussion, vocal sounds and creative music-making.

These experiences have been made possible through the extraordinary generosity of a SKiPPS family, whose donation has fully covered the cost of the theatre performance and Mal Webb’s visit. This means every student can participate at no cost to families.

Over the past three years, this generous support has allowed our students to enjoy some truly memorable Arts experiences, including visits to Arts Centre Melbourne and THE LUME. Opportunities like these enable students to encounter professional artists, performers and Arts spaces, while bringing their learning in the Visual and Performing Arts to life.

Coordinating experiences for every student across the school is a huge logistical undertaking. My sincere thanks to Chantel for the considerable work she has put into organising the day and ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Most importantly, thank you to the SKiPPS family whose generosity has again made such a special opportunity possible. We feel incredibly fortunate that our students can finish the term by sharing these rich and memorable experiences in music and performance.
