Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS)

Mental Health and Wellbeing
Week 8 – hard to believe we are here. A timely reminder to be as present as possible – ‘Wherever you are, be all there’ – Jim Elliot.

A huge thank you to everyone who has completed the survey so far. It is still available for anyone who hasn’t yet (link above). I will be sharing the data in coming weeks identifying
and articulating how we will be addressing school needs. Staff and students will also be completing wellbeing surveys which will help our wellbeing team strategically target learning and support schoolwide.
In classrooms this week, teams are each using our wellbeing programs – The Resilience Project, along with Respectful Relationships to focus lessons on the following areas:
Foundation: Being grateful
Level 1/2: Personal strengths
Level 3/4: Mindfulness
Level 5/6: Resilience
Across the week, teachers use circle time, brain breaks, class meetings and daily check ins to name a few strategies and structures to constantly monitor student wellbeing in the classroom.
Outside the classroom, please remind your children to always see a yard duty teacher (bright orange vests) if there are any concerns, or ask one of our student leaders (bright yellow vests) to help if they need further support.
My door is always open to discuss anything, otherwise please feel free to email or call. Have a wonderful week,
Mrs G
